Not Have A Prayer

The idiom "not have a prayer" means to have no chance of success or winning in a particular situation. It is often used to describe a situation where the odds are stacked against someone, and they have little or no chance of succeeding.

For example, if someone is trying to win a race against a much faster opponent, you could say that they "don't have a prayer" of winning. Similarly, if someone is trying to get a job for which they are not qualified, you could say that they "don't have a prayer" of getting hired.

The phrase comes from the idea of prayer being a way to ask for divine intervention or help in a difficult situation. If someone "doesn't have a prayer," it means that even divine intervention would not be enough to help them succeed.
