Leave Someone In The Lurch

The idiom "leave someone in the lurch" means to abandon or desert someone when they need help or support the most. It is used when someone is left alone in a difficult situation without any assistance or guidance.

For example, imagine a group of friends plan a trip together, but at the last minute, one friend cancels without any explanation, leaving the others in a difficult situation. In this case, we can say that the friend who cancelled left the others in the lurch.
